There is a variety of awards and fellowships -- local, regional, and national -- that recognize excellence in university teaching. Below is a partial list. Teaching Awards on Campus:
The Hessian Merit Award for Excellence in Teaching
- Deadline: Normally Spring
- Nomination Process: Faculty are nominated by at least three nominators, no more than one of whom may be a faculty member.

The Janet Pottie Murray Award for Instructional Leadership
Regional Teaching Awards:
Association of Atlantic Universities (AAU) Anne-Marie MacKinnon Award for Instructional Leadership
- deadline: normally May 15
- nomination process: SCENT nominates up to one UPEI professor each year. Please pass on suggestions for nomination to the Faculty Development Office before February 1.

Association of Atlantic Universities Distinguished Teaching Award
- Deadline: normally May 15
- Nomination Process: SCENT nominates up to two UPEI professors each year. Please pass on suggestions for nomination to the Faculty Development Office before February 1. Nominees must have received a UPEI teaching award.

National Teaching Awards
The 3M National Teaching Fellowship
- This award recognizes excellence in both teaching and educational leadership
- Deadline: Normally August 31
- Nomination process: SCENT nominates up to two UPEI professors each year. Please pass on suggestions for nomination to the Faculty Development Office before Feruary 1.

The Christopher Knapper Lifetime Achievement Award
- This award recognizes those who have made a significant contribution to teaching, learning, and educational development in Canada.
