The Transition Program is designed for students who do not meet UPEI's admission requirements, along with any first-year student feeling the need for additional academic and peer support.
The program offers:
- the opportunity to take up to three first-year university courses
- academic support in small and individual support sessions with Transition Program mentors that help you make the transition to university-level work and study skills
- the opportunity to qualify for admission to a degree program after one year of study, while earning credits that count toward your degree (this applies to "required" Transition Program students only, as "voluntary" program participants would already have full admission status).
The Transition Program is designed to support:
- mature students who have been out of formal education for some time and feel the need to rebuild their confidence and study skills
- high-school graduates whose grades did not reflect their true academic potential
- students from different cultures (for example, recent immigrants or First Nations students) who are interested in transition support
- graduates of upgrading programs wanting to take their education to a higher level
- students with brief previous experience of university education who would like to return and ensure success
If you wish to participate in the Transition Program, you may submit a letter expressing your interest in joining the Transition Program along with the formal on-line application to the University's Registrar's Offifce. If you have any questions, do not hesitate to contact the Transition Program Coordinator.
