Student Bursary

The Eugenie Ann Pineau Memorial Bursary

This bursary was established at the University of Prince Edward Island by Francis Lefaivre, a resident of Calgary, Alberta, to support worthy applicants entering the Transition Program at UPEI. The bursary is created in memory of his mother, Eugenie Ann Pineau, who graduated in 1909 from Prince of Wales College, one of UPEI's predecessor institutions. Miss Pineau successfully pursued her education under very difficult financial circumstances. Immediately after graduating, she migrated to Alberta where she became a lifelong educator along with raising a family of five children.

Beginning in the 2008/09 academic year, at least two bursaries of $500 each will be granted to two students entering the Transition Program at the University of Prince Edward Island. These bursaries are now renewable to those recipients upon the beginning of their studies towards a degree program the following year.
