What's Involved

The program is also open to students wishing to take one or two credit courses per semester: such students are classified as part-time students.
What is required? Year 2012-2013

Required courses include UNI 101 or UNI 103. TP students have the option of choosing between University 100 or University 103 as part of their first-year experience.  These two courses are designed to introduce students to university-level thinking, writing, research and communication skills.  TP students will benefit from weekly tutorials designed to support and enhance learning.

Most full-time TP students will take three academic courses each term (including Univ 100/103).

Support Sessions involvement (in individual and small groups) with TP mentors which will be arranged to provide extra support and guidance in dealing with course material and other crucial skills needed to succeed in university.

Full- and Part-Time Students
Most students in the program will take three credit courses per semester, which classifies them as full-time students. The program is also open to students wishing to take one or two credit courses per semester: such students are classified as part-time students. Note that classification as part- or full-time has implications both for fees and for student loans.

It is advised that full-time students not take part in paid employment for more than 8-10 hours per week.

University 100 - New Initiative
A new initiative that began in 2008/09 is the mandatory participation of TP students in University 100 (TP-only sections). As part of this core course in the TP, students will be required to partcipate in weekly Uni 100/TP tutorials that expand on the curriculum of, and learning within, Uni 100.

The weekly tutorials will be facilitated by TP staff and the topics will correspond with the topics being covered in Uni 100. A team approach is employed with the development and running of these tutorials between TP staff and Uni 100 Instructors. The focus of these toturials will be based on interactive learning. No other students on campus will get the chance to benefit from these unique tutorials except TP students.

Costs of the Program
The cost of the Transition Program is $744.00 per semester, plus an additional $486.00 per credit course and all other student fees.
